Revelation (WIP)
Video Sculpture
Inspired by a transformative encounter with a wild crocodile mother in Everglades National Park, this project draws from biblical and cultural narratives to explore the dual meaning of apocalypse—both revelation and destruction—while reflecting on the endangered status of American crocodiles. Video projections on female crocodile figures highlight conflicts with nature and the human need for control.
In John’s vision, a creature called Tanin (crocodile/alligator) is identified as Satan. Today, while American crocodiles are classified as threatened, American alligators serve as keystone species, whose absence would significantly disrupt ecological balance. The project prompts introspection on the consequences of our actions on nature.
